STEM Mentors

The Georgia Science Education Initiative club strives to enrich STEM education for Georgian middle and high school students. Our goal is to cultivate student interest and foster a more diverse environment in the field of STEM. We recruit undergraduate "STEM Mentors" who teach our students in our various programs.

GA-Yes Summer Research Program

High School students will work with Winship faculty on a 6 week research project. Help these students with college prep, transitions, and understanding potential STEM career paths.

Emory Splash

Day-long event where middle and high school students have the opportunity to take a variety of STEM-related classes taught by Emory students. Classes are typically 45 minutes long and use creative, engaging strategies to teach topics such as biochemistry, physics and other STEM topics.

Data Detectives

"Data Detectives" teaches middle school students how to research real cancer data and create action plans for local GA communities.  Two opportunities to mentor these students: 2 one-week Summer Academy programs or an after-school program. 

We are currently accepting mentor applications for the Spring session through Feb 4,2028 (Emory students only)

Girls In Scratch 

​“Girls in Scratch” is a 2-day coding event for elementary school girls (2nd - 5th grade). The program focuses on providing a hands-on, introductory coding experience for young girls. The program aims at developing computer skills and expanding access to underrepresented groups to the technology field.
